Reports To: Plant Manager
Compensation: $21.50 hourly

This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment to handle and manage waste materials at a waste facility. No experience necessary. Willing to train the right person! No CDL required.

Roles & Responsibilities
• Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment primarily 928 Cat Loader and Skid Steer in a fast-paced environment. Other experience with heavy equipment is beneficial.
• Ability to handle materials within the waste transfer station. This involves using heavy equipment to sort, move, and compact waste, ensuring proper disposal and maximizing space utilization.
• Ability to learn scale operation to weigh and ticket trailers.
• Be familiar with the equipment and daily inspection checklist.
• Perform daily pre-start up procedures (i.e. note the service due date, check fluid levels and make
sure the equipment to be used is in good running order, complete daily equipment checklist).
• Perform daily routine maintenance and cleaning.
• Be aware of other equipment and personnel working in the area.
• Possess the ability to follow instructions with strong oral and written skills.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers and supervisors.
• Report to assigned job area in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in policies and procedures
manual, and OSHA/MSHA guidelines.
• Ability to clearly think no matter the stress or difficulty of your circumstances.
• Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate specific directions to ensure the safety of all.
• Desire to learn and commitment to working safely.
• Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late, when necessary, with little or no notice.
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Mechanically inclined preferred. Position assists with plant repairs, breakdowns, etc.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Ability, Skills & Knowledge
- Experience required: 1-2 years in construction, asphalt, paving, or other related field.
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation to work.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to comprehend simple instructions.
- High school education or GED equivalent.
