The Maintenance Technician II for Ready Mix performs journey level work and is required to have previous experience and knowledge of the fundamentals of a concrete plant, which is typically attained through the maintenance technician I classification. Employees in this classification perform a broader range of duties, more technically complex tasks, are supervised less closely, are expected to set an example of professional efficiency, and may occasionally provide technical direction to less experienced maintenance staff.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Employees in any classification in this series may perform any combination of duties assigned to them. Participates in inspections, troubleshooting, installation, repair and replacement of water pumps, compressors, gearboxes, motors, valves, actuators, hydraulic pumps, air systems and water systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment.
- Fabricate and modify parts, structures and equipment from a variety of materials.
- Must be able to use all hand and power tools, cutting and welding.
- Working knowledge of 3 phase 480v, tests, locates and repairs of electrical equipment.
- Maintains records and logs of work performed.
- Must be willing to be on call 24/7, work with heights and a dusty environment.
- Must have a good work ethic and positive attitude.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience (preferably within the concrete industry.
- Valid United States Driver’s License.
- Ability to research and comprehend operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and mechanical drawings.
- Communicate effectively with Supervisors and Department Management.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence including accurate work order history.
- Demonstrate ability to complete quality work in a timely fashion, without rework.
- Ability to solve practical problems and trouble shoot complex machinery systems for failure mode and effect.
- Maintenance Tech I Is the entry level classification in the maintenance technician series. Employees in the classification receive on the job training and experience in the maintenance of concrete plants. As experience and proficiency are gained, assignments will become more varied and difficult, and supervision becomes more general rather than direct.
- Trade certificate, technical degree, license or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
- Ability to research and comprehend operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence including accurate work order history.
- Demonstrate ability to complete quality work in a timely fashion, without rework.
- Ability to employ trade related mathematics.
- Ability to solve practical problems and trouble shoot complex machinery systems for failure mode and effect.
