Overview

Location:  Atlanta, GA

 

 

The Plant Operator works within one of four functional teams—Raw Material Unloading, Milling & Laboratory, Blending & Packing, or Warehousing & Shipping—to ensure uninterrupted plant operations, maximize efficiency, and support continuous improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Inspecting, troubleshooting, and adjusting equipment within assigned functional area
•    Conducting quality checks and operating computer-controlled systems
•    Safely operating support machinery and mobile equipment
•    Maintaining records and adhering to housekeeping standards
•    Following all company, MSHA, and safety guidelines while holding others to the same standards


Key Functional Area Responsibilities (examples include):


•    Raw Materials: Railcar operations, unloading materials, tracking inventory, and conveyor system operations
•    Milling & Laboratory: Operating milling circuits, conducting lab tests, silo measurements, SAP/order management
•    Packhouse: Blending and packing line operation, pigment/material transfer systems, ASTM compliance testing
•    Warehouse & Shipping: Forklift operation, truck loading, warehouse organization, SAP/order management


Qualifications:


•    High school diploma or GED required
•    1–3 years of relevant industrial or manufacturing experience preferred
•    Hands-on experience with mobile equipment (e.g., forklift)

While performing the duties of this position, the teammate will be regularly required to talk and hear, use fingers and hands to handle and/or feel, use eyesight for depth perceptions, close, distant, peripheral and color vision; stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Frequent exposure to walking on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions, moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, high and/or confined spaces, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions and explosives. Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) lbs. independently and tolerate moderate noise levels.
