Overview & Skills

The prime objective of the Solid Fuel Operator is to safely receive, prepare and feed consistent and high-quality fuel material to the Cement Kiln in support of the cement manufacturing process. The Solid Fuels Operator supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.

 

  • Experience operating mobile equipment. 
  • Experience operating production equipment. 
  • Computer literacy. 
  • Self-starter, driven and motivated to learn and improve. 
  • Must be a team player. 
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, while building rapport with team members, customers, and external agencies. 
  • High level of integrity and commitment to comply with all applicable federal / state / industry compliance, record keeping, regulations and standards. 
  • Able to work overtime, 12 hour rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends. 
  • Due to the nature of this position, it is essential that the teammate be available to report to the designated work site / office and be ready to begin work when scheduled. 
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen. 
     

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Receive, prepare, and feed materials consistently at a rate up to 13 tons/hour. 
  • Operates mobile equipment. 
  • Operates production equipment. 
  • Operates housekeeping tools (shovels, brooms, squeegees, scrapers, etc.) 
  • Operates maintenance tools (hand tools, power tools, rigging, etc) 
  • Monitors equipment to ensure continuous operations, troubleshoots problems, investigates failures, and takes correct action. 
  • Strictly adheres to all safety policies and procedures. 
  • Responsible for inspecting both mobile and production equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. 
  • Conducts operating and minor maintenance on equipment and assists the maintenance crew in significant repairs. 
  • Responds to all incoming communications via phone, radio and other verbal inputs are taken care of appropriately. 
  • Maintains good housekeeping and 5S standards. 
  • Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.
