Overview
Location: Harleyville, SC
Provide relief (vacation, illness, approved leaves, etc.) for the finished production technician, quarry, and reclaim operator functions.
Roles & Responsibilities
⦁ Take a personal interest in personal and team safety. Continuously look for ways to improve safety and assist others to the same. Must be dedicated to the safety of yourself and coworkers. Follow all company guidelines and safety standards. Hold customers and coworkers to the same level of safety standards. Attend safety meetings as scheduled.
⦁ Understand the quarry operation and be able to operate the fixed and mobile equipment to safely produce the required quantity and quality of marl for plant production requirements.
⦁ Must become qualified on the following equipment: skid steer loaders, front end loader, dozer, excavator, water truck, haul trucks, fork lift, and locomotive. Must operator equipment and work in a safe manner at all times.
⦁ Operate and assist with maintaining the crushing and conveying equipment.
⦁ Able to perform required PMs on packing and bulk shipping equipment to ensure equipment reliability.
⦁ Serve as a customer liaison to the truck drivers and customers, conducting self with the highest level of professionalism.
⦁ Operate locomotive and load and move rail cars meeting standard operating procedures.
⦁ Must conduct good housekeeping practices in work areas. Clean up as necessary to ensure a safer and more effective working environment; including shoveling and sweeping. Maintain the work areas free of hazards, in a neat and orderly appearance that meets environmental standards.
⦁ Inspect all operating equipment each shift, complete inspection sheet and report problems/deficiencies immediately to supervisor.
⦁ Correct any and all malfunctions or irregularities of operating equipment and safety hazards. Report to supervisor if corrections cannot be made.
⦁ Must keep mobile equipment clean inside and out, maintaining equipment in the best operating condition.
⦁ Able to maintain fluid levels in equipment including fuel, engine oil, hydraulic fluid, and any others vital for equipment’s operation.
⦁ Must conduct business operations with the understanding that the customer is the highest priority and ultimately dictate the work schedule.
⦁ Utilize all safety equipment, personal or otherwise, required by the company, following all company guidelines and MSHA safety standards
⦁ Assist other functions and contractors as necessary for the efficient operation of the plant. Production Coordinator will assign work when not relieving.
Experience/Skills Requirements:
⦁ Previous industrial experience is preferred
⦁ Ability and willingness to carry out all the major requirements listed above, with appropriate training.
⦁ Ability to demonstrate safe work practices.
⦁ Must be able to demonstrate reliability, based on previous attendance record
⦁ Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position
⦁ Must have good oral and written communication skills.
⦁ Must interact well with a wide range of difference personality types.
⦁ Demonstrated ability in current job.
⦁ Experience operating skid steer loaders, front end loader, dozer, excavator, water truck and haul trucks is preferred.
⦁ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
⦁ Communicate effectively with fellow workers and supervisors, ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Note: Based on the needs of the shift, production employees may be re-assigned to a different shift during their career in production. The person in this position may have work schedule adjusted on short notice and may be called on to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
