Location: Martinsburg, WV
Pay is dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the consideration process.
Perform various manual tasks, including but not limited to shoveling, sweeping, lifting, pushing, and pulling different objects. Work will be performed according to the supervisor's instructions, except for more complicated jobs, which may be done without direct supervision.
Role & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all risk assessments, as well as inspections of the workplace, vehicles, and equipment, are completed at the beginning of each shift or whenever conditions change.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work safely, encourage safe practices among coworkers, and report any unsafe conditions or accidents immediately.
- Provide maintenance for the plant and carry out site clean-up duties.
- Operate equipment such as vacuum trucks, water trucks, sweepers, forklifts, and loaders as needed.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools to perform assigned tasks.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks for the facility and its grounds.
- Shovel and clean up any cement spills.
- Keep the manufacturing area clear of debris and dirt and organize or return tools as directed.
- This list is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned at the supervisor’s discretion.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Perform necessary tasks to ensure good housekeeping for safe and efficient operation.
- Safely operate mobile equipment as required to meet production targets and conduct clean-up tasks to maintain operational efficiency.
- Identify and report safety and environmental concerns and assist in resolving work practices that may affect the health and safety of employees and other parties.
- Write and contribute to daily reports, as well as reports on special projects or incidents.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned occasionally. Be flexible to work any shifts, including weekends and paid holidays, as required by the schedule.
Education: A High School diploma or GED is required
Experience: Knowledge of mobile equipment operation and cement manufacturing equipment, as well as good communication skills, are essential. The ability to satisfactorily perform job requirements and essential functions is mandatory.
Qualification Period: 90 working days
Employees performing this job must regularly use their hands for tasks such as handling and feeling. They frequently stand, walk, reach, climb, and perform movements such as stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often on rocky or muddy surfaces and in low light. Occasionally, they may sit. They need to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move over 50 pounds. Required vision abilities include close and distant vision, color perception, and depth judgment. The job involves exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally and 25-50 pounds frequently. Effective communication is essential, as is operating equipment safely. Employees may face dusty conditions, high noise levels, and adverse weather while wearing mandatory safety gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves. Safety measures are crucial when working at heights. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening, which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.
