Production Control Supervisor

Pay is dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the consideration process.

 

The Production Shift Supervisor (PCS) will report to the Production Coordinator and will oversee the daily activities of shift employees, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental guidelines. The PCS will also operate plant process lines and auxiliary equipment from a central location, with a focus on employee safety and the integrity of company assets.

Role & Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide safety leadership for the shift, housekeeping, and operating equipment within environmental guidelines. Lead safety efforts during the shift and ensure compliance with environmental guidelines and regulations.
  • Perform all job functions safely and provide coaching to shift employees.
  • Manage employee performance, providing feedback and following the performance management cycle.
  • Troubleshoot issues, make operational decisions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure consistent production of cement, clinker, and raw mix within quality guidelines, addressing deviations as needed.
  • Analyze equipment performance to maintain reliability and product quality.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain an accurate shift log for all activities, including equipment downtime and product quality.
  • Complete the Control Room Operator Certification program and oversee the training of shift employees.
  • Manage resources efficiently, utilizing call-outs and contractors when necessary.
  • Serve as the senior site leader during off-hours and promote effective communication across shifts and departments.
  • Handle shift administrative tasks, including work orders and timesheet validation, while maintaining a professional attitude.

 

Educational Requirements:

 

  • High School diploma required. Degree preferred.

 

Experience and Skills Requirements:

 

  • 3 years of control room experience in the industry or similar, with a good understanding of milling systems and kiln operations.
  • Must have computer skills and leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work effectively following all plant safety policies and safe work practices.
  • 5 years of progressive experience working in a cement plant.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Must be able to operate process computers and software including HMI screens, LUCIE, IP21, Wincem Shell IR Scanner, Smart Advisor, PPW.
  • Solid computer skills working with applications such as Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes, Power Point, and Maximo.
  • Able and willing to work a rotating 12 hour schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Self-starter with sound judgment, positive attitude.
