The incumbent aids the Plant Manager in identifying improvements and must understand plant operations and challenges. Long-term studies should align with the Plant Manager’s direction and current management technologies. In project management, the incumbent assesses plant needs and proposes solutions while collaborating with future users. This role involves persuading others to accept changes. Developed studies may prompt investments or modifications with support from contractors or personnel. The incumbent will lead key on-site projects. Understanding cement operations is essential for troubleshooting, as teamwork and collaboration are vital. A major challenge lies in balancing short-term needs with long-term strategies to foster innovation and assist the Maintenance Manager in implementing new ideas. The role involves integrating long-term strategies, adopting new technologies, and keeping up with industry trends.
This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal/state regulations.
Role & Responsibilities
The candidate should possess strong mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering knowledge, along with project and cost management skills. Good interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with plant personnel and contractors, as the role requires autonomy and initiative due to the Plant Manager's focus on short-term issues.
• Conduct studies on the plant's future development.
• Assist in generating ideas for operational efficiency.
• Ensure successful project execution through studies and modifications.
• Help analyze problems affecting operations.
• Promote new technologies and concepts for competitiveness.
• Provide information and training on new installations.
• Ensure timely permitting to avoid delays.
• Maintain required documentation for vendor access.
• Prepare Capital Expense Requests for project approval.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical or civil).
• 5-7 years of job related experience in project engineering.
• Cement plant equipment operation or design.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills via personal standards of conduct, work ethics, ability to delegate, etc.
