Overview

The Ready-Mix Batchman oversees daily operations to ensure cost-effective production of wet and dry batch products. Key duties include managing inventory, coordinating schedules, ordering supplies, maintaining records, and performing minor repairs on equipment. This role also involves leading on-site coordination with employees, drivers, and customers, and ensuring safety compliance through regular inspections and adherence to OSHA/MSHA standards. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Operate the Ready-Mix plant in a cost-effective manner, meeting daily production needs for wet and dry batch products.
  • Manage inventory of materials and products. Coordinate daily scheduling and production needs.
  • Coordinate ordering of parts, supplies, and raw materials as needed.
  • Maintain inventory reports and other required written maintenance records.
  • Responsible for daily plant inspections, repair, and maintenance. Should be able to complete small repairs on mixer trucks as well.
  • Assist plant management with on-site leadership and coordination for employees, drivers, and  customers.
  • Assist in the performance of weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent plus at least four years of related experience (construction background desired): or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Previous experience in operating various types of heavy mobile equipment is preferred.
  • Previous experience in operating wet plants is preferred.
  • Requires solid knowledge and understanding of proper operation and capabilities of the equipment.
  • Must be able to recognize various aggregates and rap products by sight and understand proper plant operation.
  • Good mechanical repair, accurate math skills and communications skills are required.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the desire to seek solutions
  • Ability to maintain composure in all situations
  • Must be a strong team player and gain the trust and support of peers

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit for extended periods of time. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing at times. The employee must consistently lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 60 pounds. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Ability to use vibration tools. May occasionally deal with heights. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable.
