Overview
Location: This is a remote role. We are considering applications in Minneapolis, MN and surrounding areas.
Compensation: Base Salary Range - $105,000 to $130,000 depending on experience
The Sales Manager has overall territory management responsibilities including to develop and sustain a Business Strategy for major accounts designed to gain or protect market share and profitability, assess and monitor market dynamics and create and maintain an opportunity pipeline of customers, coordinate technical services customers in partnership with the Technical Service Engineer or Specialist, and lead the territory Sales and Marketing efforts within the Business Unit. Note: This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Understand the basics of the construction industry; including some technical knowledge of concrete, cement, admixtures or other similar construction materials
- Develop, maintain and strengthen long-term relationships with customers, influencers and industry stakeholders
- Create clear business strategy for each account and develop realistic and achievable plans to maximize account potential using relationship sales, value selling strategies and good account management practices
- Identify and understand the competitive landscape
- Effectively listen and communicate with people to identify opportunities for partnerships and sales
- Negotiate respectfully to achieve territory and market based goals
- Provide basic product and technical information, education and training to customers and stakeholders
- Coordinate technical service to customers using the Technical Service Engineer or Specialist- utilizes technical resources to satisfy product and customer issues
- Participate actively in trade associations as requested, foster an understanding of industry issues and influence association goals and activities
- Promote the use of products in the territory and identify product development opportunities
- Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.
Ability, Skills & Knowledge
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Concrete Industry Management, or a related field is preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in sales, technical sales, sales support, marketing, or a related construction, manufacturing or heavy industry field is required
- Strong industry experience, or military experience without a bachelor’s degree will be considered
- Proficiency in cement, concrete products, supplementary cementitious materials, admixtures or concrete testing is preferred
- Existing customer and buying influencer relationships is preferred
- Tracking and management of major sales opportunities as they progress through the selling process
- Ability to forecast accurately across customer portfolio
- Ability to effectively manage relationships between customers, industry stakeholders and co workers
- Ability to build consensus with multi-function teams including logistics, manufacturing and marketing to advance market and company goals
- Identify and incorporate service and product improvement opportunities
- Travel as needed to meet with customers and attend business unit and district meetings
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.
