Location: Owensville, MO
Compensation: $52,530 to $64,890 annually depending on experience
The prime objective of the Owensville Clay Miner/Utility is to utilize, maintain and repair various pieces of mobile equipment required to produce clay for the cement plant. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, quality standards and company policies.
- Operates mobile equipment to expose, extract, stockpile and load clay onto trucks and trailers. On occasion, Clay Miner/Utility will use mobile equipment to reclaim depleted clay pits and construct and maintain haul roads.
- Routinely inspects work areas, ground conditions around clay pit, mobile equipment and tools for defects that diminish safety standards.
- Responds to incoming communications, via phone, radio and other verbal inputs.
- Inspects, lubricates, cleans, fuels and makes repairs and/or adjustments to equipment.
- Records required information on stand forms daily
- Reports defects to the Clay Operations Manager.
- Assures work area is kept clean and orderly.
- Attends & participates in team meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Good verbal, numerical, abstract and perceptual speed and accuracy reasoning abilities.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to physically perform the essential job functions for the position.
- Ability to work overtime, all shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Must demonstrate good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.)
- Proficient in English language.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening which includes physical, background check, and ten (10) panel drug screen.
Tools & Equipment:
The Clay Miner/Utilityman must be able to safely operate the following mobile equipment: Excavator, Track Loader, Bull Dozer, Off and On Road Dump Trucks, Highway Truck Tractor with Lowboy, Highway Dump Truck with Tag Trailer, Agricultural Tractor with Attachments, Skid Steer with Attachments, Auger Drill, Straw Blower, and Pickup Trucks.
Clay Miner/Utilityman must be able to safely use common hand tools to perform maintenance and repairs on the equipment as well as any other task required to perform the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs and maintain balance while stooping, kneeling and crouching. The employee is frequently required to climb ladders. The employee frequently is required to communicate orally and in writing. The employee will frequently be required to walk on gravel covered surfaces that may be wet and/or in artificially lit conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must continuously move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
