Outside Sales Representative - Ready Mix

Overview
This position is responsible for building and maintaining a customer base through sales, service, and a collection of receivables to maximize profits on the production and sales of ready-mix. The Sales Representative must develop, analyze, and maintain market intelligence; network, build and maintain customer relationships internally and externally; promotional activities and trade association involvement.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support a culture that promotes safety as a top priority while ensuring compliance with all federal, state and company regulatory policies and procedures.
- Ensure customer expectations of quality and service are exceeded.
- Plan and schedule visits to existing accounts in assigned territory; evaluate needs, suggest, and promote products and services and facilitate problem resolutions.
- Interface with clients to negotiate prices, sales terms, and/or service agreements. Establish credit lines via respective authorization.
- Verify that delivery schedules meet project deadlines and inform customers of estimated delivery schedules, service contracts, or other information pertaining to purchased products.
- Track and report all jobs awarded or lost and follow market share.
- Execute canvassing methods to generate and secure new business: research and find jobs in the market and track down bid lists, quantities, and specifications.
- Consult with Quality Control regarding product technical problems or issues.
- Complete quotes, submittals, emails, and other necessary paperwork as needed.
- Assist with overall customer account management including timely billing and payment collection.
- Attend sales or trade meetings and stay abreast of related publications to obtain information about market conditions, business trends, environmental regulations and changes, or industry developments.

Skills and Qualifications

- College degree is required, 3-5 years of work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have knowledge of construction materials and a solid understanding of the market, competition, and business opportunities. Knowledge of industry standards is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills: dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
- Read and understand plans and specifications for commercial project bids.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and ability to adapt to other computer software systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, managers, and customers.
- Ability to work well in high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.
- Effective conflict resolution skills and ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
- Maintain customer confidentiality and follow company integrity guidelines.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, and bend. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move from 1-20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
