Job Title: RMX Plant Batchman
Reports to: Plant Manager
FLSA status: Non - Exempt
Location: Houston, TX
Pay: $24- $26 per hour depending on experience
Job Purpose:
The RMX Batchman is responsible for operating and managing batching equipment to produce high-quality ready-mix concrete according to company standards and customer specifications. The Batchman plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and efficiency of concrete production, working closely with plant manager, operators and dispatch teams to fulfill orders on time. The ideal candidate will have experience in concrete batching, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Duties:
• Support a culture that promotes safety as a top priority while ensuring compliance with all federal, state and company regulatory policies and procedures.
• Operate batching controls and equipment to produce concrete according to mix designs and customer specifications.
• Ensure accuracy in weighing and mixing aggregates, cement, water, and additives, verifying that all mixes meet quality standards.
• Work with dispatch to manage and fulfill orders, adjusting mixes and batch quantities as needed to meet specific job requirements.
• Conduct routine inspections and perform minor maintenance on batching equipment to ensure smooth operation and minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of batch quantities, mix designs, and material usage; complete necessary reports as required.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels for raw materials such as aggregates, cement, and admixtures, and report shortages or reorders as necessary.
• Coordinate with plant operators, drivers, and dispatch to ensure timely and efficient delivery of concrete to job sites.
• Identify and resolve any issues with the batching process, including mechanical or mix inconsistencies, to ensure consistent production quality.
• Assist plant management with on-site leadership and coordination for employees, drivers, and customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of related experience (construction background preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in operating various types of heavy mobile equipment is preferred.
• Previous experience of operating wet plants is preferred.
• Requires solid knowledge and understanding of proper operation and capabilities of the equipment.
• Must be able to recognize various aggregates and rap products by sight and understand proper plant operation.
• Good mechanical repair, accurate math skills and communications skills are required.
• Computer skills required.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the desire to seek solutions
• Ability to maintain composure in all situations
• Must be a strong team player and gain the trust and support of peers
Other Requirements:
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends and overtime when necessary.

This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing at times. The employee must consistently lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 60 pounds. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Ability to use vibration tools. May occasionally deal with heights. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable.
