Overview

We seek an experienced, resilient leader to join our team and lead our Ready-Mix Trucking Operations. In this role, the Transportation Manager will oversee the overall transportation and delivery of ready-mix concrete, ensuring all policies, procedures, and safety rules are followed.

Roles & Responsibilities

SAFETY

  • Enforce safety practices in all areas of operations - both onsite and offsite
  • Monitor safe practices through THINK and SSSSDS
  • Review Samsara - coach drivers on safe driving practices

AREA MANAGER

  • Supervise and manage all employees within a defined range (could be from 40 - 60 drivers)
  • Management continues to plant and jobsite locations
  • Ensure delivery of product by drivers meets company standards
  • Driver training - help train new drivers to further understand the company after completing the driver training program
  • Order supplies for drivers and facilities to maintain operational functionality

SITE MANAGER

  • Make sure all jobsites are safe and clear for our drivers
  • Work with jobsite managers to facilitate delivery
  • Work with subcontractors and supervisors to ensure jobsite viability
  • Maintain environmental awareness
  • Report and wrongfully placed, spilled, or any type of environmental impact on the jobsite - this may include cleaning up those items

QUALITY CONTROL

  • Understanding the mix designs and how to keep the product in spec
  • Advise quality control of any adjustments that need to be made

EQUIPMENT

  • Ensure all equipment is in legal, safe, operational functionality
  • May require light repairs and fixes that can be done in lieu of a mechanic 
  • Verify drums are clear and arranging chipping services if necessary

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid and current Commercial Drivers License with ALL endorsements preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to instruct others effectively
  • Good performance record: safety, driving, dealings with customers/supervisors/dispatchers
  • Positive public image - represents self in a positive, professional manner
  • Ability to model behaviors of professional drivers by being a team player, coaching others, and providing exceptional customer service
  • Ability to be a role model and coach drivers through regular training sessions that address issues such as product quality, equipment related issues, customer service, safety, and teamwork
  • Knowledge of company history, philosophy, mission, and policies
  • Knowledge of the following of Department of Transportation inspection, and maintenance inspection
  • Ability to lead by example and help accomplish team goals
  • Ability to keep time and material records including training records and mentor meeting notes and attendance
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
  • Knowledge of different types and sizes of aggregates
  • Must be able to communicate effectively on the radio system
