Location: Ability to work out of one of our offices in Utah when not traveling.

Reports To: Manager of Driver Recruiters

 

Overview: The Corporate Driver Recruiter develops and implements recruitment and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable CDL drivers through exceptional communication skills and a thorough understanding of the transportation industry.

Occasionally, you be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) lbs. independently and tolerate moderate noise levels.

Role & Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be passionate and driven to find ideal candidates with the talent, skill set, and attitudes to complement, grow, and maintain positive work cultures and team environments
  • Collaborate with managers to define job qualifications and requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between operations and HR, supporting managers and teams
  • Coach hiring personnel on the techniques they should use to shorten the driver hiring timeline and improve the quality of the company’s driver force.
  • Source candidates using various methods: online platforms, career fairs, networking, educational institutes, direct sourcing; Partner with Indeed, Applicant Insights, and others to ensure qualified candidates and Driver Qualification Compliance
  • Develop and maintain strong candidate pipelines. Review resumes and pre-screen surveys for high volumes of applicants. Review and evaluate applicant qualifications and licensing according to the established guidelines
  • Maintain detailed candidate records and ensure a smooth, positive candidate experience
  • Facilitate the full interview process, including reference checks. Track candidates through the application process from initial contact until a hiring decision is made.
  • Ensure that driver qualification files are completed per company policy. Oversee driver qualification files to ensure they are maintained in compliance with FMCSA regulations and company policy.
  • Ensure expirable driver qualification items such as licenses, medical cards, and annual reviews are kept current.
  • Evaluate driver compensation on an on-going basis to ensure the company is competitive in all operating markets
  • Provide innovative strategies for talent acquisition
  • Assist with the orientation process to successfully transition drivers to operations
  • Create and maintain recruitment-related reports, spreadsheets, and tracking systems. Provide weekly pipeline status updates to Managers. Track and maintain recruitment and retention metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned by Corporate Transportation Management.

 

Ability, Skills & Knowledge:

 

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of driver recruiting experience in a private or for-hire trucking operation with a proven track record of success.
  • Knowledge of marketing and advertising strategies to identify driving candidates.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations associated with driver qualification files.
  • Understanding of the FMCSA’s Compliance, Safety, and Accountability (CSA) program and how drivers impact company performance.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently with a high level of energy, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement; zest for learning.
  • Possess exceptional time management and organizational skills; Be a great listener and unbiased critical thinker.
  • Communication: Intermediate verbal and written communication skills can read and display positive body language. Information must be tactful, respectful, clear, precise, and accurate. Expectation is for information to flow upward and downward throughout the organization.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills. Look forward to new challenges. Thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • System Skills: Intermediate level in JDE, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI, technologically savvy.
  • Abvility to travel up to 75%
